Every bride wants to look and feel her best on the wedding day — but crash diets two weeks before the shaadi usually backfire: dull skin, hair fall, low energy and weight that bounces back right after the functions. The good news? Three months is enough time to lose weight steadily, improve skin and hair and walk into your wedding full of energy — eating normal Indian home food.
This guide gives you a realistic 90-day pre-wedding diet plan for brides, a sample Indian bridal diet chart and the foods that genuinely support glow. Use it as a starting point; your exact calories and food choices depend on your weight, routine and lab reports.
Why start your bridal diet 90 days before the wedding?
Healthy fat loss for most women is around 0.5–1 kg per week. Over 12 weeks that adds up to a visible change — without starving. Skin cells also renew roughly every 4–6 weeks, so nutrition changes you make now show up on your face by the wedding. Starting early also leaves room for shopping, travel and functions without derailing your plan.
Month-by-month bridal diet plan
Month 1 (Days 1–30): Reset your basics
- Fix meal timings — breakfast within an hour of waking, dinner 2–3 hours before sleep.
- Add protein to every meal: dal, paneer, curd, eggs, chana, sprouts, chicken or fish.
- Cut sugary chai, packaged juices, bakery snacks and late-night munching.
- Drink 2.5–3 litres of water; start the day with jeera or plain warm water.
- Get your basic tests done — CBC, thyroid (TSH), vitamin D, B12, fasting sugar — so deficiencies can be corrected early.
Month 2 (Days 31–60): Fat loss + glow focus
- Fill half your plate with vegetables and salad; keep roti/rice to a measured portion.
- Add skin-glow foods daily: amla, citrus fruits, carrots, beetroot, nuts and seeds.
- Include 1–2 servings of healthy fat (ghee in small amounts, nuts, flax or chia).
- Add 30–45 minutes of walking, yoga or strength training most days.
Month 3 (Days 61–90): Fine-tune and protect
- Reduce salt and processed food to keep bloating down.
- Plan your function-week meals in advance (see our bloating guide for haldi, mehendi and sangeet).
- Prioritise 7–8 hours of sleep — it matters as much as diet for skin and stress.
- No new detox teas or extreme cleanses in the last two weeks.
Sample Indian bridal diet chart (vegetarian)
| Time | What to eat |
|---|---|
| Early morning | Warm water + 5 soaked almonds + 2 walnut halves |
| Breakfast | Moong dal chilla with paneer stuffing + mint chutney, or vegetable poha with peanuts + a bowl of curd |
| Mid-morning | 1 fruit (guava, orange, apple or papaya) or amla juice |
| Lunch | 2 multigrain rotis or 1 cup rice + dal + sabzi + salad + buttermilk |
| Evening | Roasted chana or makhana + green tea / lemon water |
| Dinner | Paneer/tofu bhurji or dal + lots of sautéed vegetables; light and early |
Non-vegetarian brides can swap paneer for eggs, grilled chicken or fish 3–4 times a week. Portion sizes need to be personalised — a 50 kg bride and a 75 kg bride cannot follow the same chart.
Foods that support bridal glow
- Vitamin C: amla, oranges, guava, lemon — supports collagen.
- Beta-carotene: carrots, pumpkin, papaya, sweet potato.
- Protein: dal, paneer, eggs, curd — for skin repair and hair.
- Healthy fats: walnuts, flaxseed, almonds, small amounts of ghee.
- Iron: spinach, beetroot, til (sesame seeds), dates in moderation — low iron causes dullness and hair fall.
What to avoid before the wedding
- Crash diets and skipping meals — they increase hair fall and fatigue.
- Sugary drinks and mithai between functions.
- Very salty snacks the week before (they cause puffiness).
- Trying new supplements or "fat burners" without guidance.
Brides with PCOS or thyroid
If you have PCOS, hypothyroidism, low B12 or anaemia, a generic diet chart may not work. Read our PCOS bridal diet guide, and make sure your plan is built around your lab reports and your doctor's treatment.
